ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - FEE AND LANGUAGES

NOMINAL FEE FOR PARTICIPATING ORGANISATIONS

We are now into Year 2 of the Project, and due to a number of factors (including budgetary constraints) we have made the decision to require a nominal fee of €80 from participant organisations as a commitment to participation in the training workshop. The nominal participation fee will be deducted from the participants’ expense claims by the SOLID administrator. If this causes problems please contact us to discuss alternative methods of payment. A receipt will be sent to the organisation.

Please note that the Project will cover all other reasonable expenses (accommodation, meals and travel).

The SOLID project is committed to be as inclusive as possible and we are aware that in some cases the nominal participation fee of €80, which is to be covered by the participating organisation, may be create difficulties, especially for smaller organisations with limited resources.

To enable attendance of the participants chosen for the training but affected by this situation, the SOLID organisers are making a limited number of bursaries available. These bursaries will not necessarily cover the full amount of the participation fee. Instead each application will be considered on its own merit and will be evaluated using a sliding scale.
To apply for this bursary, we would be grateful if you could e-mail us, providing the following details:

1- Your organisation's annual income (overall)
2- Your annual salary
3- The number of staff employed by the organisation
4- Please provide a short statement explaining the reason why you need
a bursary to participate in the SOLID training

CHOICE OF LANGUAGES MADE AVAILABLE DURING TRAININGS 1 & 2

Although more than half of the training sessions are carried out within national groups, facilitated in the national language, English remains the common working language for all participants in the training and is used by the trainers during the plenary sessions. However, we realise that this can cause problems for some participants, so for Trainings 1 & 2 we have made additional arrangements.

In training 1 we have offered translations into German of most of the material used in the training, as well as English-German interpreting facilities during the plenary sessions and accommodation of language needs during working group sessions.

In training 2 we will offer the same service, using French as the second language.

For budgetary reasons, it is impossible for SOLID to cover translation and interpreting facilities in more languages. We have decided that, rather than restricting the training to English only, we would offer translation and interpreting facilities in the languages that will benefit the most participants.

Please also note that the training manual sent to participants in advance is only available in English. As the trainers will occasionally refer to it as part of the training, we will ask participants to have sufficient reading skills in English to be able to refer to the manual during the session.
